Welcome to Denver Colorado! Denver is ranked the 10th largest downtown in America and is one of the most walk-able. It has a unique mix of urban life and outdoor adventure at its doorstep. On this trip, we visit Colorado's mile high city of Denver and head twelve miles east to the small town of Golden.
Check out the city tour vlog:
1. Golden Downtown
We start our tour in Golden, which lies at the base of the Rocky Mountains and was founded in 1859. It is famous for being the home of the Coors Brewery, which is the world's third largest brewing company.
2. Coors Brewery
The Coors Brewery was started by German immigrant Adolph Coors and is located in the city of Golden. The beer is ubiquitous around Colorado and a visit to the brewery is a top rated attraction. There are daily tours where you can get a taste of the popular beers such as Coors Light and Blue Moon. Be sure to get there early because lines can be long (3 hours on the Saturday during Memorial Day weekend). If you don't get into the Brewery, the downtown has plenty of pubs serving a pint of the different brews. The Brewery also has bus services through the downtown.
3. Denver Art Museum
Next we visit Denver, which boasts 300 days of sunshine per year. On this rainy day, we head indoors to the Denver Art Museum, which is an iconic building in the Denver skyline designed by architect Daniel Libeskind. We view the "Western Film" and contemporary "Mi Tierra" exhibits which were unique and thought provoking.
4. Street Art
Next, we venture to the streets of Denver to view the city's street art murals where we see art of Robin Williams, Prince and David Bowie.
5. Colorado State Capitol
Next we visit the Colorado State Capitol building which is a prominent landmark in the Denver skyline with it's gold dome. There are tours Monday through Friday of the neoclassical building that sits approximately one mile above sea level at 5,280 feet.
